We’re going to give you a brief rundown of what it is like to game on an 8K TV.
If you want to read the full article you can head over to TechNave as that will give you a complete write-up of the experience and we will cover the main points on this post.
Gaming In 8K:
This is not something that we have had a chance to do at 8KTV Scene yet, however we found a good article on TechNave so please check out the original source and thank the author.
Below we are going to give you an overview of some of the main points:
The TV that they played the game on is the Samsung Q900R 8K TV, you can also check out the preview of this TV set here on the website.
The game they played was on a PlayStation 4 pro with God of War 4.
Here are some of the features mentioned:
AI Optimized 8K Upscaling:
the first thing to bring up is that even though they were playing on a PlayStation 4 Pro this would give you ultra HD which would be a 4K quality. What the Samsung TV does is try to upscale picture to 8K, if the content is not true 8K.
This means that even with a 4K image you will get far better picture.
The upscaling work is done by a quantum processor and reports were good. In short, they mentioned that with most TVs that upscale they struggle to make the picture look natural. This was not the case for the Samsung 8K TV, and they mentioned that it sharpened all the colours and adjusted them to make it look sharp.

AI Picture Mode For Settings:
Another cool thing with the settings for the Samsung Q900 is that it features an AI picture mode that helps you to set the best graphics settings for your TV. The cool thing is that when you play your console it can automatically detect your console and set up the best setting.
There are also numerous other settings that you can play about with such as motion blur, brightness, contrast etc…
No Input Lag:
When you are gaming on a normal TV you will quite often experience lag based on the speed that the image needs to update. During their gaming session over at Technave.com they mentioned that this TV does not give any lag and it is superfast.
Audio:
Probably the next most important thing apart from the visuals when you are gaming is the sound. Especially if you are a fan of first-person shooters or racing games, quite often when I’m playing games myself, I will use a headset so you can hear exactly what is going on.
You can also use the audio to get an idea of the position of other players.
During the test they paired it up with the Samsung Soundbar and they mentioned that the audio is very good but bear in mind that this sound bar is quite advanced with 7.1 audio and it also comes with two sub woofers as well.
Cables Be Gone:
Another feature that they mentioned was that it is super easy to manage all your cables, and this will especially come in handy for gamers that have to connect consoles to the TV.
The way that the Samsung TV set has got around this is by giving you one invisible connection where the TV is connected to the main hub and the other devices are connected to the hub instead of directly connected to the TV.
This means that you can hide the hub and therefore hide the cables and keep everything neat and tidy.
It looks like they gave the Samsung Q900 a thumbs up and called it an amazing experience gaming on this TV.
This would work great with a gaming chair set up for the ultimate gaming experience.
