On this post we’re looking at the LG 88-inch 8K OLED TV which is the latest 8K TV to be released at the time of writing, (June 2019).
This TV is probably the closest competitors to the Samsung QLED 8K TV which you can pick up right now starting from $5000 for the smallest version.
The difference with the LG 88-inch 8K OLED TV is that it gives you the new OLED format.
The LG 88-inch 8K 88Z9 OLED TV will give you 16 times the pixels of full HD and four times as many as a standard 4K TV set.
As mentioned in all our reviews the main problem with 8K is that you will not have any content out there at the minute, or very little apart from demos etc…
That said, with more 8K TV sets launching each month this is the way that TV will go. You just need to work out whether you want to go for a great deal now or wait until they become more mainstream which will happen in the next few years.
This TV also has LG’s second-generation Alpha 9.8K processor which is meant to use learning algorithms to upscale any image to a higher resolution. This will never be as good as having real 8K TV content but it definitely helps if you are watching a 4K image and want to enhance it up to a 8K image.
You will also get fantastic sound with this TV set as it is able to generate virtual 5.1 surround sound and comes built-in with support for Dolby Atmos.
This will be one of the best TV sets that you can get currently which is also 8K quality. The price of this TV set is high preorder price of $34,000.
Looking up information on the LG 88-inch 8K OLED TV when you order this TV you will also get free air purifier!
This TV is also set to go on sale in Europe and North America in fall time.
The main benefit of this TV is that it gives you the OLED image so if you’re looking for the very best picture the money can buy at the minute and you are absolutely dead set on getting an 8K TV you cannot do better than the LG 88-inch 8K OLED TV.
OLED Explained:
OLED TV’s work differently than a conventional LCD TV. OLED stands for organic light emitting diode. This means that when the TV is on pixels omit their own light which means there is no need for a light behind the image. What this means for you, as the viewer, is that you will get a far better picture and depth in terms of the colour shown.
In each pixel of a OLED TV you will get something called “micro pixels” and there are three of them which correspond to the red/green/blue colour matrix in order to produce the colour.
QLED Explained:
QLED on the other hand, like the Samsung 8K TV is a very advanced version of the standard LED technology.
With a standard LED TV you will have that backlight colour that will produce all the colours that you see, that light stays on as you are viewing TV and eventually will wear out.
What QLED does is put a thin layer which is called quantum dot filter between the LED backlight and the LCD screen. This helps to push more colour from the LED which will result in a better, saturated colour.
So essentially, the way it works is the same except that he has an extra filtering system to improve colour.
Whether you are going for the Samsung 8K TV or the new LG 88-inch 8K OLED TV you will be getting the latest state-of-the-art TVs that were available today in 8K!
